How to fix the 'Dad Bod'

If you've been feeling guilty about skipping the gym for the past few days, the internet has come to your rescue. And while we're at it, you can also order a large pizza and have it all by yourself because apparently , girls love the Dad bod, which is "a nice balance between a beer gut and working out."
The Dad bod phenomenon, while nothing new ­ remember Rishi Kapoor in his prime? ­ is currently taking over the internet and making guys the world over feel better about not looking like models.Because, you know, it's the men who need to be told that the society accepts their imperfections.

WHAT IS A DAD BOD?
The Urban Dictionary entry for `Dad bod' dates back to 2009, so why are we suddenly talking about it? Recently , Clemson University sophomore Mackenzie Pearson wrote an essay titled Why Girls Love The Dad Bod for a paper that accepts writing from college students all over the US, and it went viral. In her essay, she writes, “The dad bod says, `I go to the gym occasionally , but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time'.“ It's not an overweight guy , but it isn't one with washboard abs, either. While we all love a sculpted guy , there is just something about the dad bod that makes boys seem more human, natural and attractive.
According to Pearson, girls love the Dad bod because it doesn't intimidate them, they like being the pretty one in the relationship and it means better cuddling.
THE MOST FAMOUS DAD BODS
Since the essay went viral, many examples of the Dad bod have been floating around. The most famous Dad bod ­ also the one with the hottest girlfriends ­ is Leonardo DiCaprio. However, the unofficial mascot for Dad bods seems to be Jason Segel. Other famous examples are pre Guardians Of The Galaxy Chris Pratt, Jon Hamm, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Adam Sandler, Jack Black, Vince Vaughn, Alec Baldwin and Russell Crowe.
We wonder how these actors will react if someone tells them they have Dad bods. Will they smile at you or punch you in the stomach? The Atlantic writes, “There's something faintly mocking about #dadbod and other forms of dad terminology ­ an understanding of fathers not as authority figures, but as soft, lovable doofuses.“ Because of the frenzy around the term right now, CollegeDadBods, an Instagram dedicated to the frat version of the Dad bods, has also been uncovered, where college students are seen posing happily in their farfrom-ripped bodies.
THE DAD BOD DIET
While one would think it's fairly easy to get the Dad bod, New York Magazine came up with a diet for it anyway . According to the article, “each meal should have some element of the following ­ corn syrup, batter, melted cheese and beer. Make sure to add the occasional super serving of synthetic protein to help develop the solid muscle beneath your flab layer.“
They also suggested a three-day sample diet for the summer, and we won't be surprised if you achieve a little bit of a Dad bod just reading it.
